The Story of Hoo's
Brad McDaniel served a hungry customer the first plate of Hoo's Q barbecue on April 27, 2013, two years to the day after an EF4 tornado tore away the roof of the restaurant he owned and operated in the same location.
The tornado that devastated a portion of Tuscaloosa in 2011 did not spare McDaniel, whose building on 15th Street overlooked Forest Lake, one of the areas most heavily damaged by the storm. After complying with new zoning and stricter codes under the city council's comprehensive recovery plan, Tuscaloosa Forward, Hoo's is open for business with an improved home town feel.
Hoo's Q's new modern rustic feel has no gimmicks, just bare tin and wood walls, tables fashioned from doors, and large-portioned meals. Come by and try a reasonably priced meal in a customer-oriented atmosphere.
